This policy replaces any and all policies issued before this date. [1] Do Not flood or waste bandwidth in any manner. [2] Do Not harass other users or network staff. [3] Do Not abuse or misuse our servers or network services in any way. [4] Channel and nickname takeover attempts will not be tolerated. [5] No unsolicited advertising (spam) of any kind. This includes joining channels and displaying URLs, setting visible channel topics which advertise other IRC networks, and using /notice, /msg, or /invite to advertise any product or service. Spamming FOR this network on OTHER networks is also strictly forbidden by this network's policies, as is spamming other users in an attempt to get them to join a channel. Spam complaints will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Advertising or spamming may result in an AKill (network-wide ban) on your domain. [6] Only 3 (three) bot/clone per user. More than three bot/clone per user will be considered "cloning" and will be dealt with per Network policy. If you wish to run multiple bots for a specific purpose, you MUST contact the administrator of the server you wish to use, or the Network Administrators, and get permission BEFORE connecting bots to any server. [7] No sub7 client connections, or any other exploit or backdoor clients. [8] Connections from open proxies (ie: unsecured Wingates) will be refused. [9] Denial of service activities of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes flooding user connections, nukes, exploits in operating systems or IRC clients, and any other activity which denies others the unhindered use of this network, its servers and services in any way. [10] All users engaged in file trading of any kind are responsible for ensuring their own compliance with all applicable copyright laws. RealityBytez does not accept any responsibility for monitoring file transfers between users, nor will we accept the responsibility for investigating [11] No child pornography, rape or bestiality channels or file trading. While Network staff cannot monitor most private file transfers, any evidence of such material being traded by users on RealityBytez will result in an immediate Akill (global ban) for all users involved. [12] No illegal activities of any kind will be condoned by this network. RealityBytez will fully cooperate in the prosecution of any person using any part of our network in the commission of criminal activity. [13] RealityBytez is an "all ages" IRC Network. All channels with offensive names or topics (sexually explicit, containing profanity, or otherwise reasonably likely to be widely offensive) MUST be set /mode +s (secret) or they will be changed/removed by Network staff without warning. Channel owners are responsible for the activities occurring in their channels, including the actions of those they have given operator status. Please keep this in mind when choosing your channel operators, as their actions may result in your channel being the focus of attention in any violation of network policies. Similarly, anyone who has used the current founder password to identify as the founder of a channel, unless there is evidence of a takeover situation, will be considered the channel founder by network staff, and may adversely affect your channel. Please choose wisely when distributing the founder password to your channel. [14] Do not request O:lines or ask to be made an IRC Operator. RealityBytez has a strict hiring policy for network staff, and will only initiate the hiring process upon invitation, NEVER by request. This policy will not be waived for anyone, so please do not waste your time. Similarly, channel operator status on #help is reserved solely for network staff members and will never be granted upon request. [15] RealityBytez reserves the right to deny all access to this network and any of its resources to any person, for any reason we deem to be legitimate and necessary, without warning. We provide this service to you for free. Therefore, your ability to use this network is a privilege, not a right, and that privilege may be revoked at our discrection. Failure to comply with these rules of usage will result in action by Network staff, up to and including a gline or Akill on your user@host or domain. For situations involving potential illegal activities, RealityBytez may contact the appropriate law enforcement authorities to initiate a criminal investigation. RealityBytez staff CANNOT become involved in private channel disputes of any kind. Operation and control of privately owned channels is entirely in the hands of that channel's founder and anyone whom they allow to have op status. Similarly, each channel may set its own rules of acceptable conduct as it sees fit, as long as those rules are not more lenient than, and do not advocate violation of, any Network policies. RealityBytez also CANNOT intercede if you neglect to properly register your nickname and/or channel, and someone else "steals" it. This also applies to nicknames and channels which the previous owner has allowed to expire. If it's that important to you, make sure it is registered and used on a regular basis (once per month minimum). Unless a known database error has occurred, the nickname and channel registration information contained in our databases will be presumed to be correct when mediating any dispute. RealityBytez has several types of automated security in place on its servers and services. As such, akills for some instances of cloning and flooding, and all akills for open proxy connections are placed automatically. If you cannot connect to RealityBytez due to an akill for one of these reasons, and either you did nothing wrong or you fixed the problem and wish to reconnect, please contact us by e-mail at: kline@RealityBytez.Net. Additional rules may be in place on individual servers; please check the MOTD for the server you are using by typing "/motd" for server-specific rules, administrative contacts, and additional information for that server. By using any part of the RealityBytez IRC Network, you agree that RealityBytez has NO LIABILITY for any of the content that any users transmit over its servers. This includes the content of private and channel messages, channel names and topics, and all files traded between users. You also agree that RealityBytez is not responsible for any user(s) "annoying" other users. If you feel that you are being unreasonably harassed by another user, you have already taken all steps available to you to solve the situation yourself, and are unable to resolve the issue, you may contact the Grievances Administrator as explained below to file a complaint. Please be sure to save all log files pertaining to the incident you are reporting; logs from multiple persons are especially helpful. Be aware that in case of conflicting IRC logs, or if RealityBytez deems there is insufficient evidence to warrant taking action on a complaint, RealityBytez may choose not to take any action at that time. The main reason for this is due to the ease with which IRC logs can be fabricated; you would not want us to believe the other user based on their logs, and we have no way of knowing which person is being honest. RealityBytez has sole authority in deciding if circumstances constitute a violation of these rules of usage. If you feel a mistake has been made, or wish to formally dispute a staff member's decision, you must retain logs of the incident if at all possible, and e-mail the Grievances Administrator at staff@RealityBytez.Net Your use of the RealityBytez IRC Network in any manner affirms your awareness, understanding, and agreement to comply with all rules of usage stated above. Failure to comply with the rules of usage, network policies, or directives given by RealityBytez staff members may result in the denial of your use of this network. If you do not agree to abide by RealityBytez's rules and policies you must immediately discontinue your use of this network in any manner.
